Elwood Whobrey, age 86, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (February 17, 2012) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky.

He was born on January 26, 1926, in Grayson Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Willard Whobrey and Sinal Emily McGrew. He was a retired general laborer, and member of the famiily of McGrew General Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and driving through the countryside enjoying the outdoors..

He is survived by five sons, Ray Whobrey (Cathy), Carl Eugene Whobrey (Gladys), Jason Whobrey, Roger L. Whobrey, all of Leitchfield, and Justin Whobrey (Sheila) of Hendersonville, TN; two daughters, Rose Sanders of Borden, IN, and Arlene Whobrey of Okeechobee, FL; one sister, Florene Haynes; one brother, Leo Whobrey; sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Rena Mae Whobrey.

Other than parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Smith Whobrey; one son, Edward Lee Whobrey; one grandson, Daniel Jay Whobrey; one brother, Clarence Whobrey; and two special friends, Nora Irene Hicks, and Ollie Miller.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday (February 19, 2012) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Charlie Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in the McGrew Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 11:00 a.m. Sunday until time of service.
