Obituary
Emma Jean Hayes, age 84, of Smithland, KY, (formerly of Leitchfield) passed away Saturday, (June 10, 2017) at the McCracken Nursing and Rehab Center in Paducah, KY.
She was born on January 18, 1933 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Guy and Nettie Pruitt Lucas.
She was a housewife, and a member of the Grandview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Gates (Stoy) of Smithland, KY; two sons, Roger Dale Hayes (Letta) and Garry Hayes (Alicia) both of Leitchfield, KY; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gracie Judd of Louisville, KY and Martha Butler of Elizabethtown, KY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Oscar Hayes; a brother, Presley R. Lucas; and a sister, Betty Raymer.
In accordance with her wishes, a Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, (June 13, 2017) at the Holly Cemetery on Brandenburg Road in Leitchfield with burial to follow. Bro. Cecil Williams will be officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1201 Story Ave # 200, Louisville, KY 40206.
