Ernie Lee Pierce, age 68, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Monday, (January 09, 2017) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

He was born on May 25, 1948 in Grayson County, Kentucky, the son of the late Lawrence and Sarah Grant Pierce.

A veteran of the US Navy, he was foreman of the wax shop for Kelley Bee Hive and a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, who enjoyed fishing, watching TV, making people laugh and spending time with his beloved dog, Petula.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Young Pierce of Caneyville; a son, Casey Pierce (Emelene) of Caneyville; a granddaughter, Alyssa Pierce of Caneyville; a step-grandson, Dylan Cook of Caneyville; a brother, Ralph Pierce (Joyce) of Peonia, KY; three sisters, Carolyn Harp of Peonia, Sue Lambert (Jimmy) of Caneyville, Mary Agnes Clemons (Joe) of Louisville, KY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dusty and Derrek Pierce; and two brothers, Joe and Arthur Pierce.

Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, (January 13, 2017) at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Peonia. Father Babu will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be held Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 Friday.
