Essie Mae Cooper, age 93, formally of Caneyville, KY, passed away Tuesday April 15, 2008 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY . She was born in Texas, the daughter of Theodore and Mary Zachary Simpson and was married to William R. Cooper. She was a member of Wilson Home General Baptist Church for 78 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lewis (Willie) of Louisville, KY, and Jerry (Uda) Pharis of Leitchfield, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and one brother in law Essie Willard Cooper of Louisville, along with several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years William R. Cooper, two daughters Marcella Dockery and Artie Glass, three sisters, Carrie Hayes, Esther Simpson and Flossie Selbia, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p .m. at Wilson Home Church, with Bro. Dewey Baker and Bro. Joe Watson officiating with interment in the Wilson Home Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. until funeral time on Saturday
