Eugene “Gene” Logsdon, age 83 , of Snap, KY passed away Thursday, (June 18, 2026) doing what Gene loved to do best.
He was born on September 15, 1942 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Charlie and Elsie Pauline “Tops” Powell Logsdon .
Gene was a retired construction worker and farmer. A faithful member of Sulphur Wells Missionary Baptist Church, he was saved in his twenties and proudly served as a deacon for many years. On May 29, 1965, he married the love of his life, Ineida Haycraft, and together they recently celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage.
Affectionately known as “Papaw,” Gene enjoyed noodling, hunting, trapping, gardening, and especially tending to his beloved watermelon patch. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all. The home he and Ineida built together was always open, welcoming family, friends, and neighbors alike. His kindness, hospitality, and love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ineida Haycraft Logsdon of Clarkson; one son, Barry Logsdon (Rita) of Clarkson; one son-in-law Mike Williams also of Clarkson; two grandchildren, Blake Logsdon (Sarah) of Hudson, KY and Brittany Williams McCleod (Kyle) of Leitchfield; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kenzleigh Logsdon and one on the way; brothers, Carmon, David, Eddie and Randy Logsdon; and one sister, Sheenah Clemons. Several special nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Lynn Williams and one brother, Deno Logsdon.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, (June 20, 2026) at Sulphur Wells Missionary Baptist Church. Bro. Chris Cann will be officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Sulphur Wells Missionary Baptist Church until time of services.
