Franklin H. England, age 79, of Shrewsbury, KY, passed away Thursday, (April 4, 2024) at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born on October 25, 1944 in Alton, IL, the son of the late Herbert and Aline Burden England.

A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, Franklin retired from Gates Rubber Company where he worked for 37 years. He enjoyed working on cars and drag racing.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mamie Duvall England of Shrewsbury; six children, Michael England of Butler County, KY, Jeffrey England of Silver Hill, AL, Beverly Smith (Daniel Rich) of Clarkson, KY, Wendy Sanders (Bruce) of Anneta, Phillip England (Jill) of Shrewsbury and William England (Melinda) of Duff; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe England and Charlie England (Candy) both of Falls of Rough, Kevin England of Chester, TX; a sister, Nellie Varing (Wayne) of Chester, TX; a brother-in-law, Norman Duvall of Fisherville, KY and two sisters-in-law, Pat Duvall of Shrewsbury and Jane Clark (Bobby) of Leitchfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hobert England; and brothers and sister-in-laws Coy & Martha Lay, David & Audrey King, and Robert Duvall.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (April 9, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Kenneth Smiley Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in the England Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
