Fred Harold Cartter, age 79, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (February 21, 2009) at Grayson Manor in Leitchfield.
He was born on December 7, 1929, in Ann Arbor MI, the son of Fred Oberlin and Mae M. Berger Cartter. He was an owner and operator of Fred's Disposal Service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81, and past member of the VFW in Leitchfield. He served in the Merchants Marines for two years, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane Carolyn Kleinsteuber Cartter, one brother, James L. Cartter of Ann Arbor, MI., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, John.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. (February 24, 2009) at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Leitchfield. Bro. Jim Johnson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, and at the church from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scholarship program at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Leitchfield.
