Gary "Squirrel" Duel Pharris, age 68, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Wednesday, (January 29, 2025) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on January 30, 1956 in Caneyville, KY, the son of the late Edward and Freda Nell Embry Pharris.

He was the owner and operator of Pharris Masonry who enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also loved being Papaw Squirrel to his grands.

He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Cottrell (Adam) of Leitchfield; son, Jeremy Pharris (Brenda) of Louisville; grandchildren, Gracie, Jacob, Ella, and Brynlee; sister, Mary Ellen Lee of Caneyville; and two brothers-in-law, Ricky Smith of Leitchfield and Curtis Fleener of Short Creek. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kay Fleener, Audrey Woodcock, Gerald Pharris, Phillip Pharris and Lisa Smith.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (February 04, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Steve Mahurin will be officiating. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
