Gerene Kersey, age 87, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (April 23, 2014) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

She was born on April 25, 1926 in Falls of Rough, KY, the daughter of the late Ottie and Osie Wilson Edwards.

She was a retired Social Service Worker for the Parent and Child Center, a member of the Little Clifty Homemakers, the Grayson County Quilting Society and the Shady Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Kersey (Wanda) of Leitchfield, two daughters, Pam Bennett (Vernon) of Richmond KY and Kathy Montgomery of Lexington KY, six grandchildren, Lori Powell, Jerry Kersey Jr. (Heather), Jami Johnson (Arlando), Thomas Johnson, Jeana Giles (Chris) and Daniel Montgomery (Emily), seven great grandchildren, Abigale and Caleb Powell, Isabel and Claire Kersey, and Hessi, Addi and Beckham Johnson, one brother, Daymon Edwards of Louisville, two sisters, Dorothy Shain of Louisville and Patsy Swift of Leitchfield and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Edwards of Falls of Rough, KY.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Jessie Elmer, Cecil, and Edgar Wayne Edwards, Verlene Powell and Mary Lucille Edwards.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (April 28, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Little Clifty Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
