Obituary

Gladys Mae Saltsman, age 65, of Sunfish, KY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, (March 27, 2011) after a 22 year battle with cancer at her home.

She was born on September 19, 1945, in Muhlenberg Co., KY, to the late James and Verna Martin Nelson and a beloved wife to the late Carlos Saltsman for 45 years. She was a member of New Hope General Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Robin Saltsman of Sunfish, one daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Randy Lacefield of Millwood, KY, one sister, Anna and Richard Cope of Central City, KY, four grandsons, Ronnie and Macey Saltsman, Andy Decker and Aaron Lacefield, four granddaughters, Kisha and Rachel Decker, Brandi and Olivia Saltsman, one step grandson, Adam Lacefield, one great grandson, Noah Payton, one step great-granddaughter, Bryleigh Lacefield and a special niece, Dossie Sadler and her children and grandchildren, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to have know her.

Other than her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Archie and Floyd Nelson and one sister, Mary Nelson Blake.

Gladys loved going to church, listening to gospel music, laughing and spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (March 30, 2011) at the New Hope General Baptist Church in Sadler. Bros. Joe Brooks and Doug Edwards will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope-Sadler Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and at New Hope Church from 12:00 noon Wednesday until time of services.
