He was a boil maker from 1952-1955, a school teacher at Goff School from the fall of 1949-1950, Director of Pupil Attendance Personnel from 1955-1956, grocery owner at Caneyville IGA in 1957 and grocery owner at Glen's IGA from September 1960-1992. Glen served as Senator on the Weterau Board for IGA from 1977-1978 and again in 1983-1984. He served on the Grayson County School Board from 1978-1986, serving as Chairman of the Board from 1978-1986. He was also instrumental in bringing Grayson Manor Nursing Home to the county and was Chairman of the Board in 1962. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a proud veteran of WW11 serving in the Merchant Marines from 1945-1946 and then joining the U.S. Army in 1946 at the age of 17. He was a surveyor at the Guadalcanal in the Soloman Islands and had his training at Sheep's Head New York.  One of the things he was most proud of was the high school students who came to work for him at the IGA.
