Hallie Eskridge Basham Salmon, age 84, of Falls of Rough, KY, passed away Friday, (July 27, 2012) at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was born on November 11, 1927, in Grayson Co., Kentucky, the daughter of the late William Robert and Martha Louise "Dolly" McCrary Eskridge.
Hallie was a member of the Lone Star Church of Christ at Falls of Rough, KY. She loved to cook and sing at family gatherings and loved helping others. She was retired from cosmetology and was a member of the Red Hats Society and for a time, enjoyed writing neighborhood news for the local newspaper. She was very much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to give special thanks to the "angels walking on earth" at the Jefferson Manor for all of their love and care given to Hallie during the last five years of her precious life.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Patricia Ann Gagel (Jack) of Valrico FL, two sons, Charles Slaughter (Barbara) of Louisville and Edward "Bo" Frans (Noreen) of Lutz, FL, one sister, Ann Dever of Ft. Lauderdale FL, her grandchildren, Michael Gagel, David Slaughter, Sean Frans, Holly Harwell, Jacquelyn Slaughter and nine great grandchildren Jason, Jessica, Michaela, Braden, Evan, Beau, Max, Brock and Sophia.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Basham and Joe Salmon, one brother and four sisters, Charles Eskridge, Edith Ford, Louise Greer, Ollie Buckler and Eva Waggoner.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, (July 31, 2012) at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Roger Chaffin will be officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Star cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
