Obituary

Hardin Stewart, age 87, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Friday, (March 06, 2020) at the V.A. Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born on October 17, 1932 in Millwood, KY, the son of the late Robert Calvin and Sudie Robey Anderson Stewart.

He was a production worker for 52 years at the Walter T. Kelley Co. and officially retired in 2006. He served in the Korean War and served as Quarter Master while stationed in Fort Lee, Virginia from 1953 to 1955. In the year 2002 he became an honorable Kentucky Colonel. He professed his faith in 1951 and was a member at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church where he was the Church Clerk and Song Leader from 1971 to 2019, and served as a Deacon of the church since December of 1990.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Stewart; one son, Andy Stewart (Miranda); two grandchildren, Ryder and Jenna Stewart, one brother, Elmer Stewart (Novella); and a sister, Vertie Stewart-Givens. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Luke and Joe Stewart, and two sisters, Dorothy and Mary Ellen Stewart.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, (March 12, 2020) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. J.H. Manion, Bro. Charlie Love, and Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, (March 11, 2020) and from 9:00 AM until time of services on Thursday.
