Harold Wayne Dean, age 78, of Big Clifty, KY, passed away Tuesday, (January 23, 2024) at U of L Health in Louisville, KY.

He was born on May 5, 1945 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late James Henry Dean and Cova Yates Dean.

Harold married the love of his life on December 21, 1968, Elaine Nichols Dean. He was Veteran of the United States Marines. He retired from General Electric where he worked for more than 30 years. After retiring he worked as a landscaper for various good friends and family members. He was a graduate of the Pleasure Ridge Park High School Class of 1964, where he was an athlete on both the basketball and track and field teams. He enjoyed watching UK Basketball, golfing, singing, and playing the guitar and harmonica. He was saved at the age of 10 at Rockford View United Baptist Church where he remained a life-long member.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine Nichols Dean; three daughters, Robyn Kipper (Paul) of Big Clifty, Rhonda Roof (Kenny) of Clarkson and Sophie Dean of Big Clifty; one son, Stephen Sarver (Tonya); seven grandchildren, Dalton, Jonathan, Evah, William, Devin, Stevie, and Jayden; four  great-grandchildren, Nova, Kane, Liam and Willow. Special daughters from the heart, Bonita, Tracy, Kim and Shannon also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Gavin Wayne Langley and two brothers, Murrell and James "Larry" Dean.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. CST Tuesday, (January 30, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Larry Tucker, Bro. Jamie Dean and Bro. Garry Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Claggett Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
