Obituary
Hayward Lovel Edwards, age 80, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away Monday, (July 15, 2013) at Helmwood Healthcare in Elizabethtown, KY.
He was born on June 8, 1933 in Falls of Rough, KY, the son of the late Lovel and Ila Vandilla Mahurin Edwards.
He was an Army veteran, who received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal while serving his country, and was a retired Civil Service Mechanic, who enjoyed visiting the Elizabethtown Towne Mall, playing checkers and was a UK fan. He was a member of the West Point Barker Masonic Lodge # 129 and the Elizabethtown Morrison Masonic Lodge # 76 and was a member of the Stones View United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his brother, James Edwards and his wife Geraldine of Elizabethtown, KY, and his niece, Lisa Edwards Grim and her husband, Larry of Frankfort, KY.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday, (July 17, 2013) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Billy Compton will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mahurin Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CDT on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Expressions of sympathy can take the form of donations to the Stones View United Methodist Church.
