Obituary
Hazel Eleanor Powell Brunce, age 88, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (January 10, 2008) in Leitchfield.
She was born on August 17, 1919, in Breckinridge County KY, the daughter of Railey and Sarah Burnett Powell.
After graduating high school in Hardinsburg, Ky., Hazel moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she worked various jobs; most notably at Wright Aeronautical during the War Effort, and also as a dental assistant.
She met her husband, Russell when they were set up on a blind date. They married on August 26, 1950.
She didn't work after marrying until she and Russ purchased Breezy Hill Store in Falls of Rough, Ky. in 1978, as a retirement business. Russ passed away in 1994 and Hazel sold the store in 1996.
She is survived by one daughter Rebecca Brunce Mercer (David), of Falls of Rough, KY, two grandchildren Logan Brunce Mercer and Troy Lee Mercer. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Brunce.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (January 12, 2008) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, with Bro. Roger Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Knob Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday (January 11) and after 9:00a.m. Saturday until time of the service.
