Hazel Payton Geary, age 85, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Thursday, (September 9, 2021) at her home.

She was born on May 23, 1936 in Grayson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Shelby and Valor Payton.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, making flower arrangements, and embroidery.

She is survived by two sons, Elmer Dale Geary and Darrell Wayne Geary; three daughters, Terri Lynn Coleman, Mary Ellen Bratcher and Melinda Diane Parks; six grandchildren, Lance Dale Geary, Amy Bratcher Cannon, Jayme Coleman May, Jeremy Trent Geary, Shayla Marie Parks and Colton Heath Parks; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn May, Carson Geary, Case Cannon, Elaina Geary, Walker Geary, Novalee Geary, Aubrey Lynn Geary and Wells Geary. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Elmer Geary; a son, James Heath Geary; three brothers, Leland, Joe and Chesley Richard Payton; and two sisters, Jean Lovely and Evelyn Crawford.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, (September 15, 2021) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Terry Tarrence will be officiating. Burial will be in the Yeaman Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.

The family requests that all those who come to pay their respects wear a mask covering their nose and mouth for the duration of their visit.
