Helen Marie Embry, age 96, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (February 12, 2016) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical in Leitchfield.
She was born on January 15, 1920 in Decatur, AL, the daughter of the late Clifford Richard and Mabel Oldham Givens.
She was a retired Federal Postmaster and along with her husband, Roy owned and operated the Embry's General Store and Texaco Gas Station at Steff, KY; a Kentucky Colonel; a caretaker for the Cain and King Cemeteries. Helen was very instrumental in her community helping anyone who was in need; she enjoyed gardening and traveling to many states also Mexico and Italy. She loved going to the Smokies in the fall and trips to Alabama. She was a member of the Stone Street Christian Assembly in Louisville, KY.
She is survived by her loving husband of 77 years, Roy Embry, three children, Leon Embry (Margo) of San Diego California, Patricia Finley (Harold) of Brandenburg, Ky, Leroy Embry (Shan) of Leitchfield, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Givens and two sisters, Christine Pierce and Genene Payne.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. CST Monday, (February 15, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. Wayne Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the Cain Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. CST to 8:00 p.m. CST and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
