Henry Roy Morton

Master Sargeant Henry “Hank” Roy Morton, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired), 84, passed away peacefully at home in Falls of Rough, KY on September 17, 2026.

Henry was born on March 25, 1942, at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Henry devoted 30 years of his life serving his country. After completing five tours in Vietnam, he later received the distinction of being assigned to the U.S Navy Blue Angels, where he served aboard the Marine Corps iconic C-130 support aircraft, affectionately known as “Fat Albert”.

Henry lived an amazing life that took him all over the world. His family will remember him as one of the kindest, most giving men they’ve ever known. He had a passion for travel, horses, good food, technology, and he really loved his Amazon Prime subscription. Henry truly believed that the United States of America is the greatest country in the world, “always has been, and always will be – in spite of any self-serving politicians we may encounter”.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Ollie Morton, and his brother, Curtis Morton. He is survived by numerous family members and friends whose lives were better because they knew him. Henry shared a special bond with his nephews, Chad (Julie), Mike (Stacie) and Chris, who were by his side through his final days. He especially loved texting and keeping up with his great-nieces, Karlie, Kacie, Chelsea, Jenna and Jillian.

In accordance with Henry’s wishes, cremation was chosen, with no local service. He will rest eternally alongside his brothers and sisters at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.

The family wanted to extend special thanks to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, Encompass Health, Grayson County EMS, Hosparus of Central KY, and Dermitt Funeral Home for the kindness and compassion they showed to Hank.

Henry lived a life of service, adventure and generosity. He leaves behind memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
