Herbert Carroll, age 82, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (June 7, 2012) at his home in Leitchfield, Kentucky
He was born on April 4, 1930, in Hazard, Kentucky, the son of the late Joseph and Gibsey Farris Carroll.
He was a foreman for CSX Railroad, enjoyed spending time in his garden and was a twenty-nine year member of the Anneta United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Gertrude Carroll of Leitchfield; two sons, Richard Carroll (Sheila) of Clarkson, and Michael Carroll of Anneta and daughter in law Jeanetta of Leitchfield, KY; three daughters, Margie Carroll of Leitchfield, Janet Dowless (John) of Leitchfield and Julie Carroll of Anneta; two sisters, Louise Stinett of Anneta, America VanMeter of Millwood; eight grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Carroll, 3 brothers, Jesse, Gene and A.B. Carroll and a sister, Bonita Decker. The Carroll family is also mourning a brother, Clyde Carroll, who passed away shortly after Herbert on Thursday, June 7th 2012.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm. Sunday, (June 10, 2012) at the Anneta United Baptist Church in Anneta. Bro. Billy Vincent will be officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, and from 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Anneta United Baptist Church, and Sunday after 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
