Hershel C. Parks, age 85, of New Albany, IN, passed away Monday (February 18, 2008) at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
He was an army veteran of World War 2, a former resident of Caneyville, KY, and retired in 1988 from the Southern Standard Carton Co. in Louisville, KY and a member of the Chenoweth Park Baptist Church in Jeffersontown, KY.
He was born on November 4, 1933, in Caneyville, KY, the son of Lonzo Elmer and Goldia Basham Parks.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy W. Parks, three daughters, Joan Dale (Frank Jr.) of Louisville, June Morris (Larry) of Aiken, SC, and Jennifer Wollam (Jeff) of New Albany, his grandchildren, Leigh Ann Owens, Aaron, Jeremy, Rebekah, Laura, and Caleb Morris, and Hannah and Benjamin Wollam, his great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Thomas and Elijah.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (February 23, 2008) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. Rev. John Perry will be officiating. Burial is in the Richland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kraft Funeral Service at 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, IN from 3 to 8:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday and at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville from 3 to 8:00 p.m. CST Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
