Hershel Roof, age 87, of Shrewsbury, KY, passed away Wednesday, (September 23, 2015) at his residence in Shrewsbury, KY.

He was born on June 8, 1928 in Edmonson County, KY, the son of the late Clifford and Ella Miller Roof.

He was a self-employed carpenter, who enjoyed working with his mules, building wagons and harnesses, and working on churches. He was a member of the Broadway Missionary Church, where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife Myrtle Nadine Cassidy Roof, one daughter Linda Bean (Lloyd) of Cave City, three sons, Billy (Clydie), Tony (Jean), Jr. (Jeanie), all of Shrewsbury, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Estelle Bray, two brothers, Bobby and Athel Roof.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, (Sept. 27, 2015) at the Shrewsbury General Baptist Church in Shrewsbury. Bro. Billy Bertram and Bro. Donald Webb will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church in Leitchfield from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, and will be moved to the Shrewsbury General Baptist Church on Sunday with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
