Hewett Rhea Philpott, age 78, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (August 19, 2021) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes.

He was born on August 8, 1943 in Brandenburg, KY, the son of the late Ercy and Lela Still Philpott.

A veteran of the US Navy, he retired from Reynolds Tobacco Company and enjoyed fishing and collecting coins, guns and knives.

He is survived by his children Susan and Lewis; a step-daughter, Pam Kamer (Mark), a step-son Louis Spalding; several grandchildren, including Dustin, Jonathan, Hannah, Jesse, Josiah and their families; and several great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews, including Greg Wilkins, also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wilkins Philpott, a son Charles "Chuck" Spalding, and a sister, Laverne Leachman.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (September 7, 2021) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Joe Watson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
