Hontas Louise Wells, age 90, passed from this life March 14, 2016 at her daughter's home with her family at her bedside. "LuLu," as she was called, was born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, to the late Reverend Samuel and Martha Belle Moss. She was the youngest of ten children. One sister, Janet Hasslock, survives. She married Kenneth Wells January 24, 1946. They were blessed with three daughters, Annette, Cynthia and Pam. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Rock Island, Illinois, where they raised their family. She loved giving of herself to others and enjoyed taking care of her plants.
Lulu is survived by her daughters: Annette Rich (Jim) of Louisville and Pam Atkinson (Drew) of Savannah, Georgia; four grandchildren, Chad (Tonya), Bryan and Aaron (Rachel) Rich of Louisville, Amy (Matt) Range of Savannah; five great grandchildren, Camryn, Zoe and Presley Rich, Jacob and Ellie Range and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, eight siblings, daughter, Cynthia, and great grandson, Braxton.
The body will be cremated. Friends may pay their respects at Owens Funeral Home (Dixie) on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.
