Hoover "Toad" Embry, age 80, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Thursday, (December 20, 2007) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
He was born on September 6, 1927, in Butler County, KY, the son of Homer and Edna Renfrow Embry. He was a terminal Manager for Majors Transit for 40 years, where he started as a driver when the company hauled livestock and produce from Louisville to Caneyville and continued with them hauling general commodities and freight. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a trap shooter. He enjoyed a trip each year with friends to South Dakota for a pheasant hunt. He was a member of the Christian Home Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Burden Embry, one son, Tony Embry (Robin) of Leitchfield, KY, one brother, Bill Embry of Welchs Creek, KY, five sisters, Camela Phelps of Mt. Washington, KY, Patricia Kidd of Louisville, KY, Faye Woodcock of Jetson, KY, Diane Colburn of Round Hill, KY and Jan Embry of Welchs Creek, five grandchildren, Adam and Andrew Cottrell, Kim Hayes, and Katie and Kelsey Embry and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Mackenzie Hayes. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Saundra Cottrell.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (December 22, 2007) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
