Howard Millard York, 86, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (January11, 2014) at Nortons Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born on October 29, 1927 in Evarts, KY , the son of the late Skyler and Grace (Martin) York .

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired heavy equipment operator a member of Leitchfield Masonic Lodge F&AM # 236, the Shriners, American Legion Post 81 and the Leitchfield United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rose York of Leitchfield , 3 daughters, Linda Cornish and Pamela Petitt of Louisville, Lisa York of Leitchfield, 2 step sons, Freddie Childress and his wife Beverly, and Patrick Childress and his wife Michelle, both of Leitchfield, 4 grandchildren, Brian and Amber Cornish, Robbie Medley and Jarrod Decker, 1 great granddaughter, a step grandchild Tabitha Harris and her husband Robbie, 3 step great grandchildren, Chelsea, Kayla and Stetson, and a sister, Elizabeth Brown of Louisville. Several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife June and a step grandson Bradley Childress.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (January 14, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Rev. David Harting officiating. Burial will be in Leitchfield Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services. Masonic services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday
