James "Jim" Dale Smiley, age 59, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (September 25, 2018) at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

He was born on November 8, 1958 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Maurice and Lenora Mercer Smiley.

He was a machinist at MTD who enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing the guitar. He was a member of the NRA.

He is survived by five siblings, Neal Smiley (Mary Johnnettia Berry), Norman Smiley (Debbie Hack), Angela Smiley-Parks (Matthew), David Smiley (Zella Kirby) and John Smiley all of Breckenridge County. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Horton; paternal grandparents, Delphis and Evelyn Smiley; and maternal grandparents, Houston "Hous" and Lennie Mercer.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, (September 28, 2018) at the Calvert Community Church. Bro. Kennith Smiley Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in the Calvert Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at which time services will move to the Calvert Community Church located at 1443 Calvert Church Rd., Leitchfield, KY 42754.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Dermitt Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
