James Lewis Hicks, age 76, of Millwood, KY, passed away Friday, (November 16, 2018) at his home.
He was born on February 2, 1942 in Edmonson, KY, the son of the late James Lawrence and Effie Mae Sanders Hicks.
He was a truck driver who enjoyed riding his horses, hanging out with his brothers, and mowing his lawn. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Short Creek #744. He was also a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church for over 45 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Constant Hicks; three sons, Jamie Leonard (Julia) of Leitchfield, Keith Eugene (Robin) of Big Clifty, KY and Kelly Vance (Vickie) Hicks of Caneyville; two daughters, Janet Hicks Ragland of Leitchfield and Tammy Glasscock (Corky) of Louisville, Ky; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Dee Hicks of Big Clifty, KY; sister, Betty Harp of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews. His long-time trucking partner and brother-in-law, Ernest Bradley also survives.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Marie Hicks; brother, Jackie Lee Hicks, sister, Billie Poteet; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (November 21, 2018) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. David Brown will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. Masonic Services will be held on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hill Grove Cemetery Fund.
