James Elmo Johnson, 72 of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (January 3, 2015) at Springview Nursing and Rehab Center in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on February 18, 1942 in Louisville , KY, the son of the late Elmo W. and Anna Pearl Bradley Johnson .
He was a U. S. Army Veteran, who enjoyed hunting and fishing, working with horses and spending time with his grandbabies. He was a fan of U.K. Basketball and was saved at Sulphur Wells Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his, daughters, Melissa Pierce of Leitchfield, Tammy Johnson of Clarksville, IN, a son, Cory Johnson and his wife Jennifer of Caneyville, seven grandchildren, Jacob Pierce, Jessica Wood, Skyler and Raylan Johnson, Brandon, Bryan Tyler and Bethany Lilly, a sister, Julie Johnson of Louisville and two brothers, Jerry Johnson of Munfordville, and Jackie Johnson of Fairdale.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Jesse Johnson .
Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. CST Wednesday (January 7, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Snyder and Bro. Howard Shartzer officiating. Burial will be Monday January 12, 2015 at 12:00 Noon CST in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery at Ft.Knox with military honors.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. CST Wednesday until time of services.
