James Cecil Thornberry, age 77, of Falls of Rough, KY, passed away Sunday, (March 10, 2024) at in Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born on July 02, 1946 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Albert and Lillie Smiley Thornberry.

He was a Quality Assurance Officer for Alcatel Telephone Company who enjoyed reading and playing guitar. He was a member of the Church of Christ, American Legion Post 81, and the VFW #3852.

He is survived by his son, James Thornberry (Lynn) of Falls of Rough; a daughter, Stephanie Staples (Aaron) also of Falls of Rough; five grandchildren, Amber Thornberry, Justin Staples, Jarret Staples, Taylor Lindsey & Chloe Lindsey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 and a half years, Gloria Kay Ford Thornberry; a brother, Albert R. Thornberry; and three sisters, Janice Embry, Mary Emma Whiteside & Edna M. Eatherly.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, (March 13, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Denver Young will be officiating. Burial will be in the Lonestar Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
