James Russell Willoughby

James Russell Willoughby, age 55, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Thursday, (August 6, 2026) at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

He was born on June 29, 1971, in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Gayle Willoughby.

He was a devout Christian who enjoyed fishing, doing all outside activities, and loved all animals, especially dogs. His greatest joy came from spending time and hanging out with his son, Steffan.

He is survived by his sons, Steffan Willoughby (Mercedy Willoughby) and Cody Hensel; his aunt, Robbie Brown, and his cousin, Cindy Hudson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gayle Willoughby, and his grandmother, Faye Willoughby.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (August 11, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Garrett Eblen will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery on Highway 79 in Caneyville.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
