Obituary

James (Jim) L. Wilson, also known as Flip, age 86 of Leitchfield, KY, passed away peacefully with his wife Donna by his side on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in Bowling Green (Warren County), KY. He was born September 2, 1939 in Grayson County, KY to Carl Wilson and Stella Constant Wilson Logsdon.

Jim was raised in Grayson County but left to work in Louisville before returning home in 1999 after retiring from Louisville Gas & Electric where he worked in the Gas Department putting in new gas services. After retirement, he started a small blueberry farm, mowed lawns, and drove for the Amish. He also served as a volunteer for the Grayson County Alliance Food Pantry.

He loved his family and friends and he enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and animals. He and his wife were fortunate to have traveled to many different states and were especially fond of the southwest. He had several different pets over his lifetime and instilled his love of animals in his children. He also loved working - yes, he loved working! In addition to his wife and family, one of his great loves was bluegrass music. He was also known as the “Moon Pie Man” due to his large supply of Moon Pie t-shirts.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Wilson and Stella Constant Logsdon, sisters Helen Bartley and Mildred Smith, son-in-law Stanley Helm and his beloved border collie Daisy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Donna Wright Wilson. Also surviving is daughter Deborah Wilson Helm and sons Bill Wilson (Pam), and Michael McGuire (Kristie), grandchildren Pamela Gillman Fugate (Brian), Jay Gillman (Stacy), Mackenzie Wilson Ferree (Tyler), Zachary Wilson, and Kade and Jian McGuire. He is also survived by great grandchildren Coley (Karli) Gillman, Brooklynn and Braden Gillman and Boone Ferree and one great-great grandchild Hayden Gillman. One sister, Mary Tucker also survives along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1 PM at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, KY with burial following in the Duff Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22 and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Grayson Springs DAR c/o Linda Gentry. P. O. Box 621, Leitchfield, KY 42755.
