Jane Ellen Bratcher, age 97, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Sunday, (February 5, 2017)in Leitchfield.
She was born on September 7, 1919, in Thrope West Virginia, the daughter of the late John Bryant and Rose Rucker Gillespie.
She was a retired educator from the Grayson County School System. Mrs. Bratcher taught music, French and English. She received her education degree and a bachelor of music from Western Kentucky University. She enjoyed reading, playing card games, painting, and writing. She played the piano, organ and the dulcimer. She and her husband, Clyde Bratcher, Sr. were married on December 21, 1941. She lived with her Aunt and Uncle Minnie and Arthur Fugate from an early age and was raised in their loving home. She has been a member of the Leitchfield First Baptist Church for sixty-four years.
She is survived by her son, Clyde Bratcher, Jr. (Lillian) of Clarkson; two daughters, Carla Pelletier (Robert) of Torrance, CA, and Caren Gibson (Larry) of Franklin, KY; ten grandchildren, Anita, Donna, Craig, Eric, Dawn, Joy, Brent, Jon, Matthew, and Bethany; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and cousin, Elizabeth Hill.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bratcher, Sr., brother, Jack Gillespie; Aunt Minnie and Uncle Arthur Fugate, and their son, James Fugate.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday (February 11, 2017).
Celebration of Life services will be at 1:00 p.m. the following Saturday, (February 18, 2017) at the Leitchfield First Baptist Church. Bro. Doug King, Bro. Craig Bratcher, and Bro. George Smith will be officiating. Private burial will be in the Clarkson Cemetery.
