JANE TAYLOR HARNED MEREDITH of Leitchfield, Kentucky was born on March 24, 1937 to the late Elizabeth Morrison Arnold Taylor and Walter Coakley Taylor and returned to her HEAVENLY FATHER January 15, 20ll. Academically gifted, she graduated from Leitchfield High School in only three years and went on to Western Kentucky University to pursue a career in education. She taught English for many years in the Leitchfield, Clarkson and Caneyville School Systems. Having a lifelong passion and gift for fashion and make up artistry, led her to a career in cosmetics and preparing young women for pageants. Her extensive knowledge and expertise led to the opening of QUEENS OF KENTUCKY in 1989. Over the next few years, Jane trained, mentored, and wardrobed hundreds of local, state and national pageant winners. She spent so much of her time and her life encouraging young women and instilling them with the confidence to be the the very best that they can be!
Jane's family was one of the original founders of the First Christian Church, where she was a lifelong member. She was also an active member of the Leitchfield Women's Club, Grayson County Fair Pageant Board, the Humane Society, a Kentucky Colonel, an active Democrat and volunteer for numerous other organizations.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Meredith; children Victoria Sturgeon(Tom), Bobby Harned(Janice), Elizabeth Walker(Jim), Martha Lynne Harned, Jon Bowman Harned (Anna), Hugh Patrick Harned (Ekaterina). Grandchildren, Samantha Williams,Taylor Harned, Amanda Mertz, Victor Harned, Christina Sturgeon, Kiana Harned, Nick Walker, Samuel Harned, Alex Harned, Antonina Harned and one great grandchild Jacob Williams. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor C. Harned.
The Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Dermitt Funeral Home. Her Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday.
