Jerlene Downs, age 71, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (April 7, 2015) in Louisville, KY.

She was born on January 1, 1944 in Anneta, KY, the daughter of the late Alonzo "Lon" and Ada "Lola" Constant Wood.

She was a homemaker, who enjoyed working with flowers, especially making seasonal arrangements. She also enjoyed making crafts, cooking, and spending time with family. She enjoyed having company at her home. She and Willard, her husband, were married on June 20, 1958. She was a member of Anneta United Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Willard Downs of Leitchfield; son, Ricky R. Downs and wife, Nedra "Joyce", of Louisville; daughter, Wanda "Gay" Downs Meredith and husband, Gary, of Leitchfield; two brothers, Randall Wood and wife, Nelda, and Denver Wood, and wife, Jeannie, all of Leitchfield; two sisters, Wanda McClure of Clarkson, and Clorene L. Decker of Leitchfield; two grandchildren, Michael Downs and wife, Allison, and Whitney Meese and husband, Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Bricyn, and Jazlyn Meese, and Lilyan Downs; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (April 11, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Earl Lee Day will be officiating. Burial will be in the Anneta Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
