Jerry Edward Hesson Sr., age 81, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Thursday, (January 9, 2024) at his home.

He was born on May 16, 1943 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late William Edward Hesson and Mary Wells Hamilton.

A proud veteran of the United States Marines, he was a painter and an antique dealer who enjoyed golfing and watching all sports, especially the University of Kentucky Wildcats. A constant supporter of the Grayson County Cougars, Jerry could always be found in the stands for a High School Basketball game or when members of his church were playing ball. He was a devoted member of the New Hope General Baptist Church (Sadler) and a former deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carolyn Haycraft Hesson of Caneyville; seven children, Jerry Hesson Jr. (Barbara) of Indianapolis, IN, Alisa Mumford (Scott) & Rhonda Jackson (Darrell) both of Jacksonville, FL; Marty Huffman of Shepherdsville, KY, Mike Huffman (Sandy) of Sarasota, Florida, Marcy Stanton (Joey) of Caneyville, KY and Thomas Montgomery of Louisville, KY; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and a host of beloved church family also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Hesson.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (January 18, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Joe Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
