Obituary
Jerry Mayes, age 73, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (July 27, 2017) in Leitchfield.
He was born on October 10, 1943 in Muhlenberg County, KY, the son of the late James Carl and Evelyn Rager Mayes.
He was a coal miner, and a member of the Coal Miner's Union. He was a generous donator to St. Jude's Hospital and to Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.
He is survived by his children, Tony Mayes of Louisville, Michelle Martin of Greenville, and Therese Bosh of Mt. Washington; two grandchildren, Nick Mayes and Ariel Oney; one great-grandchild, Violet Oney; his siblings, Brenda Shoptaw of Leitchfield, Sandy English of Nebo, KY, Jim Mayes Palmira, IN, Jimmy Mayes of Louisville, Darrell Mayes of Louisville, Carolyn Bratcher of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Janet Henley of Louisville.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Mayes.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, (July 30, 2017) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Drakesboro, KY.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
