Obituary

Jimmy Mack Strother, Sr., 73, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (August 9, 2010) at the Springview Health and Rehab in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on June 7, 1937, in Rockingham, North Carolina, the son of the late William and Thelma (Horn) Strother. He was a member of Pilot Baptist Church in North Carolina.

He served for 8 years as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy. He worked for Compton Pilot Textiles for 34 years.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Francis (Smith) Strother of Leitchfield; two sons, Jimmy Mack Strother, Jr. and William Martin "Marty" Strother (Kim) of North Carolina; one daughter, Tracy Lynn Swift Strother (Tim Keown) of Leitchfield, KY; two step-sons, Randy Parrish of Florida and Russell Parrish of Washington state; one brother, Tony Strother of North Carolina; two sisters, Mary Dean and Rachel Chapel both of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Chrystal Tomes, Ashley Tomes, Jessica Strother, Zack Strother, Brook Strother; two step grandchildren, Tim Parrish and Tyler Parrish and one great grand-child, Kaden Farris. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dwayne Swift and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (August 12, 2010) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Joseph Cooper will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
