She was the daughter of the late Albert and Merle Crumes Cummings. She retired from Engineering Research. She attended The Bridge Church in Fortville, IN. and was a member of the Fortville Brotherhood and Sisterhood. Jo Nell is survived by her son, Charles (Robin) Smith of Dundee, KY; daughter, Rebecca C. Oller of Leitchfield, KY; son, Joseph Lee Smith (Kristie Curry) of Louisville, KY; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, Drexel Cummings; and sisters, Geraldine White, Kathleen Logan, Betty Ward, Dortha Bratcher, Patsy Mathis, and Sadie Geary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Everett Smith; and brothers, Freddie, Phillip, and Dwight Cummings.

Funeral services will be held at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield at 1:00 P.M. Friday Jan. 4, 2008 with burial following in the Yeaman Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00-9:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of service.
