Obituary
Joe Cal Stewart, age 84, of Louisville, KY, formally of Caneyville, passed away Saturday, (January 17, 2015) at Grayson Manor in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on July 17, 1930, in Millwood, KY, the son of the late Robert Calvin and Sudie Robie Anderson Stewart.
He was retired from General Electric. He loved to sing, and listen to gospel music. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and his garden. He was an animal lover. He married Emily Aline Ray in November 2, 1957. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church since October 6, 1957. He was ordained as Deacon on August 15, 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Aline Ray Stewart, sister, Vertie Stewart Givans of Glendale; two brothers, Elmer Stewart (Novella) of Louisville, and Hardin Stewart (Carolyn) of Caneyville; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy, and Mary Ellen Stewart; and one brother, Luther Wallace Stewart.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (January 19, 2015) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. Jay Manion will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
