Obituary

John Dale Alvey, age 73, of, Leitchfield KY, passed away Sunday, (May 30, 2021) at his residence.

He was born on December 30, 1947 in Clarkson, KY, the son of the late Arnold Vincent Alvey and Mary Eunice Higdon Alvey.

He was an athlete and grew up playing baseball as a catcher. He tried out for the Chicago Cubs and played in the AAA Minor League. He lived on a farm in Illinois and had horses. He received a Bachelor Degree from the College of Saint Francis in Joliet, IL. He was a Middle School teacher. He became a business man later and owned a car lot and a nightclub called "Foggy Mountain Lounge". The house band was called the "Foggy Mountain Band". Dale and his OG steel guitar player recruited musicians to honor the OG "Foggy Mountain Band" from the 80's. Other local country bands played there also. It was a popular establishment in that area.

His band "Foggy Mountain Band" was a very popular success in the Joliet, IL area in the 80's. Dale played rhythm guitar and was the lead singer. They released one album and one single. They opened for Loretta Lynn, John Anderson, The Mandrell Sisters along with many others and also played in many historic Nashville venues.  He was of the Catholic Faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Kami Drew Alvey of Riverside, California; brothers, Jimmy Alvey (Karen) and Larry Alvey (Pat); his sister, Bonnie Miller (Carl); and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Drew, Timmy, Donnie, Wayne and Louie; and one sister, Jenny Ann Edmonds.

He had chosen cremation and the family is honoring his request.
