John Thomas Young, age 57, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (March 17, 2023) at his residence.

He was born on December 6, 1965, in Grayson County, KY, the son of Mildred Brooks Embry and the late Wendell Embry.

He was a farmer who enjoyed fishing, his farming and family get-togethers. Family was very important to him. He was an avid UK sports fan. He and Barbara Fox Young married on August 16, 2021. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Young; daughters, Amanda Russell (Anthony Parker) and Johanna Young; mother, Mildred Brooks Embry; step-children, Amanda Coy and Michael Wilson; eight grandchildren, Dylan Russell, Chloe Louise Russell, Madison Elaine Cook, Addison Fulkerson, Damian Fulkerson, Owen Wilson, Luna Coy and Jameson Wilson; sisters, Lorie Embry and Michelle Cardwell (Mark); brother, Robin Embry; special cousin, Teresa Mae; his former wife, Tammy Young, (the mother of Amanda Russell and the late Jonathan Young); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Embry, son, Jonathan W. Young and brother, Eric Embry.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (March 21, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Jeff Decker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday until time of services.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Dermitt Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
