Johnny Ray Roof, age 89, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (May 03, 2025) at his home.

He was born on March 26, 1936 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late John Reason and Benny Jane Basham Roof.

He was a lifelong truck driver and was a 75 year member of the Claggett United Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma Waddell Roof; two sons, Larry Eugene Roof (Belinda) of Big Clifty, KY, & Douglas Ray Roof of Clarkson, KY; a daughter, Lisa Nall of Cecilia, KY; four grandchildren, Melissa (David), James, Alex & Jessica; three great-grandsons, Jamari, Jacob & Zaiden; four half sisters, Lois Ann Suman, Doris Decker, Zonie Roof, and Ruthie Johnson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Nall; five brothers, Alvey, Jesse, James, Earnest & Willie Roof; four sisters, Ruby Kelly, Elsie Lindsey, Rosie Harold, Tressie Hart; and a half-brother, Denny Roof.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, (May 09, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Joe Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sanders Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
