Obituary
Joyce Conklin Smith, age 83, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (August, 29 2012) at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, Kentucky.
She was born on September 1, 1928 in Grayson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late William Love and Mabel Witten Conklin. In addition to being a farmer's wife and a full time mother she worked at the sewing factory, Hobbs, Keith Monuments, and was employed as a US Census Worker.
She was a member of the Eveleigh Independent Church and a graduate of the Leitchfield High School (Class of 1946).
She is survived by her husband, Raleigh Smith, daughter, Karen Hatfield (David) 2 granddaughters, Eveleigh Hatfield Stewart (Tony) of Piney Flats, TN and Holly Hatfield (2nd Lt. In the United States Air Force) of Cincinnati, OH, sister, Betty Jo Crawford (H.T.) of Leitchfield and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm. Sunday, (September 2, 2012) at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bob Crawford, her nephew, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Eveleigh Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Eveleigh Cemetery Fund.
