Juanita Karnes, age 91, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (December 15, 2025) at Grayson Manor Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on January 9, 1934 in Adair County, KY, the daughter of the late Ray Nathan and Myrtie Ella Karnes Curry.

She was a retired homemaker who loved reading, traveling, and shopping. Juanita also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She received great pleasure in having family dinners, especially Thanksgiving dinner, where she always prepared a lot of great food. She was married to Clarence Luther Karnes, who passed away on March 8, 2007. She attended New Life Assembly Church in Leitchfield.

She is survived by her children, David Karnes, Sheila Miller (Donnie), and Stephen Karnes (Kristi); her brothers, William Louis Curry (Barb) of Illinois, Jerry Curry (Brenda) of Wisconsin, Howard Curry of Illinois, Michael Curry (Christine) of Illinois, Charles Curry (Marsha) of Leitchfield; sisters, Sharon Gray of Illinois, Mary Tucker of Leitchfield, Betty Humphres (James) of Illinois, Joan Cunningham of Illinois, Deloris Parrent of Illinois, and Linda Augustus of Illinois; two grandchildren, Casey Karnes (Tori) and Becca Mauldin; and one great-grandchild, Benjamin Luther Karnes.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Luther Karnes; brother, Sammie Ray Curry; sisters, Gladys Blankenship, Mayrine Powell, June Preston Curry, and Carolyn Curry.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (December 20, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Nathan Lowe will be officiating. Burial will be in the Bearwallow Cemetery in Adair County, KY.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
