June Boone Purcell, age 81, of the Sinks Community departed this life on August 1, 2026, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born November 25, 1944, to the late H.H. (Bud) and Ruby Byers Boone in Clarkson, Kentucky. She was a retired para-professional educator who worked in excess of twenty years for the Grayson County School System at H.W. Wilkey and Grayson County High School. Following retirement, June enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard, riding the side by side, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Caneyville Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James C. (Jim) Purcell, sons Allen Tabor (Kelly), James H. Tabor, and a special daughter, Tracey Fulkerson (GW). Also surviving are grandchildren Shelby Collins (Grant), Seth Elmore (Katie Anderson), Sophia Blanton (Brad), and one great-grandchild, Henry Bennett Blanton. Nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother David Boone, sisters Opal Boone and Diane Scott.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen under the direction of Dermitt Funeral Home. The family will host a celebration of life later this month with notification of time and place to be posted on social media.
