Kathleen Young, age 53, of Morgantown, KY, passed away Monday, (December 18, 2023) at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

She was born on October 13, 1970 in Leitchfield, KY, the daughter of Martha Ford and the late JC Young.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and fishing and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by her spouse, Billy "Shade" Smith of Morgantown; two step-daughters, Jessica Fleener of Butler County and Angela "Angel" Cardwell of Morgantown; four step-grandchildren, Gage Procter, Shadeynn Johnson, Raylynn Fleener & Kenndin Fleener; one brother, Tracey Hays of Frankfort, KY; three sisters, Penni Young Sadler of Richmond, KY, Loretta Franke of South Dakota, & Theresa Young of Hodgenville, KY; and her mother, Martha Ford of Frankfort. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her father, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Roy Smith.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (December 26, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Davy Norris will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Dermitt Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
