Obituary

Kelvin Tomes, age 86, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Monday, (March 8, 2021) at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

He was born on October 4, 1934 in Lee, KY, Butler County, the son of the late Hayward and Ruby Cecil Tomes.

He was a truck driver for Rainbow Bread Company for thirty-three years. He loved to fish. He was a member of Teamsters Local #89 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married his sweetheart, Ottie Bell Tomes on October 30, 1954. He was a member of the New Assembly Baptist Church in Hartford, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Ottie Bell Tomes of Clarkson; son, Kelvin Laron Tomes (Phyllis) of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Martin Tomes, Jessica Renee Tomes Moore, Amanda Jewell Tomes and Josh Watson; two great-grandchildren, Talon Wade Moore and Josie Paige Moore; brother, Sheldon Tomes; daughter-in-law, Tammy Tomes; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his two buddies and self-adopted grandsons with a special bond to Kelvin, Jonathan and Evan Williams.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Scott Tomes and a brother, Jimmy D. Tomes.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (March 13, 2021) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Leland Geary will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery in Big Reedy.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service.
