Kendall Ray Phelps, age 37, of Owensboro, KY, passed away Thursday, (October 8, 2009) at his residence.
He was born on November 19, 1971, in Bowling Green, KY, the son of Laymon Ray and Anita Felty Phelps. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a former police officer in Louisville, a former police chief of Cloverport, KY, and presently worked in security for Owensboro Medical Health Systems. He was a member of the Diabetes Association.
He is survived by his wife Sheri Goldsmith Phelps of Owensboro; one daughter, Amber Phelps Stauffer of Wyoming; three step-children, Luke Ross, Lyndsey Hagan, Jacob Schrecker, all of Owensboro; his mother, Anita Phelps of Leitchfield; one sister, Melissa Gary (Perry) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Jerry Phelps of Cub Run; and one grandchild, Gavin Hagan. He was preceded in death by his father Laymon Ray Phelps.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. (October 12, 2009) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Larry Bidwell will be officiating. Burial will be in the Woodcock Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of service.
