Kevin James Kloubec, age 61. passed away on August 30, 2009 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. He was born March 26, 1948, at LaMoure, North Dakota. He was the son of Melvern Koubec and Muriel Edwards Kloubec. He was the third of four children.
Kevin graduated from LaMoure High School. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps, serving tours of duty as a Viet Nam Veteran. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a masters degree in 1979. Kevin also served in the Peace Corps in Gambia, West Africa. He later moved to Kentucky and worked for the State of Kentucky, Hardin County Child Protective Services and for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
On September 14, 1986, Kevin Married Betty Sue Woodcock of Caneyville, KY. They lived in Leitchfield and then moved to Elizabethtown where they made their home. Kevin was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his parents and one brother, Keith. He is survived by his sister, Karen (Orjan) Westerlund of Kirkland, WA, his brother, Ken (Linda) Kloubec of Alexandira, MN, a step-daughter, Susan Hazzard, Indianapolis, IN, a step-son, Michael (Cathy) Hazzard of Elizabethtown, five granddaughters, two nieces, three nephews and their families.
Kevin enjoyed reading, listening to music, spending time with family, hunting, gardening and being outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. (September 3, 2009) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville, KY. The ashes will be interred in the Woodcock Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memoriam to the American Cancer Society.
